Lee auditioned for snare drummer in front of Jim Jones for the Troopers in the fall of 1957. Their first performance was a parade in Riverton, Wyoming in 1958 at the state American Legion convention. They focused on parades the first year. Lee marched in the snare line until 1960 when he auditioned for Drum Major. He marched as drummer major for one year, and when Mr. Jones requested him back on the snare line, he declined and left the corps. Lee then returned in 1964 as the drumline instructor. He met his wife, Dee Francescato in the Troopers and they were married in 1964. They even traveled to New York with the corps for their honeymoon. They were the first couple to get married both from the Troopers, and their first two children were the first 100% Trooper babies. He and his family moved to Seattle in 1967. Lee returned to live in Casper in 2018 to be close to and work with the Troopers. Lee has extensively volunteered for the corps working on the food truck and beyond. He currently serves on the Troopers Board of Directors, Sabers Circle, and was inducted into the Trooper’s Hall of Fame. Lee looks forward to continue helping with the food truck. "My amazing life is all thanks to God, Jim Jones, and the Casper Troopers." - Lee Engle
